Typically a person’s salary reflects the value of their skillset and the importance of their role to their company. If that’s TRUE, then there is some good news for safety practitioners. A recent salary survey conducted by ISA and published in InTech magazine benchmarked the average salary by job function. It showed the average salary for safety systems engineers ($129,285) to be higher than all other job functions other than engineering management. It also showed a significant increase in salary (5.9%) from the previous year.
So what does this mean? It shows that companies are increasingly recognizing the value of safety practitioners. It also shows how important it is to continuously acquire new skills and expertise to make you a more valuable employee. This demonstrates the importance and benefit of the Certified Functional Safety Expert (CFSE) program, which is designed to help people acquire and demonstrate their skills in functional safety.
At exida, we realize how important it is to provide opportunities for self-improvement. 2014 will feature some exciting new programs– the launch of exida Academy, the rollout of the CFSE endorsement program, and exida Training Week to be held February 24 – 27, 2014 in Houston, Texas.
We hope that you’ll take advantage of these opportunities and take your career to a new level in 2014.
