exida will be presenting and exhibiting at the 2016 Emerson Global User Exchange to be held October 24-28, 2016 in Austin, TX. Stop by Booth #409 during exhibit hours. This year we will be showcasing some of our newest products and services that reduce engineering time and minimize risk.
- Automatic Configuration of DeltaV SIS Logic – The Proof of Concept debut of a plug-in to our industry-leading exSILentia tool that allows DeltaV SIS configuration logic and design documentation (C&E Matrix) to be created automatically from your SIL Verification calculations and requirements specification.
- Move data from PHA high risk hazard scenarios into LOPA with the push of a button - Inputs that are defined in the Process Hazard Analysis tool (e.g., causes, safeguards) are instantly populated for Layer of Protection Analysis (e.g., initiating events and independent protection layers).
- Seamlessly create database for tracking of SIS demands, proof test results, failures, and maintenance activities from SIL Verification – SIF component information is imported into your plant hierarchy within the SILStat tool.
- Configure Alarm Flood Suppression Logic in DeltaV from Rationalization tool – Use SILAlarm to effortlessly configure Emerson’s Alarm Flood Suppression modules (triggering conditions, suppression behavior, dynamic prioritization, alarms to suppress) and faceplates.

2-8929 - Improving Safety Integrity Through Advanced Diagnostics
Manufacturers developing products for use in SIF/SIS are improving their products’ ability to detect failures with added diagnostic capabilities. These diagnostic can have a significant impact by increasing the product’s inherent safe behavior. Advanced diagnostics typically lead to a lower Dangerous Undetected failure rate and therefore a higher Safe Failure Fraction. This course will give an overview of functional safety standards and how a product with more advanced diagnostics, and therefore a higher SFF, may be allowed single use in SIL 2 applications instead of redundancy.

Nominated for Best in Conference Award
The UND Power Plant team set a goal to improve the performance of their DeltaV alarm system. This presentation discusses their game plan for achieving victory including the goals they wanted to achieve, the process they went through, key success factors, alarm system requirements, and the paradigm shift they went through in how they thought about alarms. Their play sheet included initial benchmarking, operator interviews, alarm philosophy development, alarm rationalization, conditional alarming, and implementation of Alarm Help.
