exida Presenting and Exhibiting at 2022 Emerson Global User Exchange

  September 07, 2022

exida will be presenting and exhibiting at the 2022 Emerson Global User Exchange to be held October 24-28, 2022 in Grapevine,TX. Stop by Booth #43 during exhibit hours.  Also, Iwan van Beurden, exida Chief Technology Officer and Kate Hildenbrandt, exida Product Manager, are among the presenters at this year’s event.

This year we will be showcasing some of our newest products and services that reduce engineering time and minimize risk.

Emerson Exchange is more than just an industry-leading technical conference. It’s a one-of-a-kind opportunity that brings together leaders and experts from across the process automation industry for learning, sharing and networking. Together, you’ll discover new ideas, review best practices and gain additional expertise to help you maximize assets and increase profitability.

exida industry experts will be delivering the following presentations during the conference:

4-1137 - Automatic Logic Configuration of DeltaV SIS

The adaptation of IEC 61511 within the process industry is significant. Users perform tasks that include defining conceptual SIF designs and SIL verification for those designs. The conceptual SIF design is then converted to application logic. This manual interpretation and conversion task is now automated, significantly reducing the human error potential. Conceptual SIF designs documented and verified in exida's exSILentia software, can be transferred into DeltaV SIS logic with the click of a button. This presentation describes how selections in exSILentia link to application logic and how the configurator can be used to automatically configure a DeltaV SIS system. Lessons learned from use of the configurator for a large oil and gas project will be reviewed as well.

4-1286 -  The logic solver architecture in a safety system is irrelevant!

During the selection of a safety system, the topic of the logic solver architecture is typically discussed and terms such as TMR, QMR, DMR, and VMR are normally compared without a clear reference. Some old project specifications prescribe a particular architecture name based on what was available in the market at a time. Comparison of logic solvers should not be based on “marketing” terms such as TMR or QMR but based on performance criteria such as the probability of failure on demand (PFD) and spurious trip rate. This paper compares multiple commercial logic solvers and demonstrates that differences in PFD are insignificant. The paper also suggests better criteria for the selection of logic solvers and the overall safety system.

MTE-2041 - Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) Implementation from Sensors to Final Elements

After identifying the need for Safety Functions in order to provide the adequate risk reduction to your process, the next step is to identify the proper technology that will allow the proper design of the Safety Instrumented Function, while meeting your organization’s objective. Emerson has by far the most comprehensive, state-of-the-art portfolio, if you want to lean more, join us at Emerson Exchange.
