exida, an accredited global certification company, has certified the Velan Torqseal™ triple-offset butterfly valve for functional safety. The certification ensures that the valve meets the functional safety requirements for Safety Integrity Level (SIL) 3 capable per IEC 61508.
“A Failure Modes, Effects and Diagnostic Analysis (FMEDA) was performed on the Torqseal family of valves, which confirmed their suitability for use in safety applications,” said exida Evaluating Assessor Chris O’Brien. “We are impressed by the thoroughness and robustness of Velan’s development process, and they demonstrate a solid understanding of the issues necessary to achieve high levels of functional safety.”
