The presentation will take place on Friday, September 20, 2013 at Singapore Polytechnic. The topic of the presentation is Safety Equipment Justification – Prior Use vs IEC 61508 Certification.

The IEC 61511 standard requires that equipment used in safety applications be justified by prior use justification or IEC 61508 compliance. However, the standard does not give much detail regarding how one does this task.

- Describes the essential requirements of any equipment justification process
- Recommends specific actions in order to accomplish a good prior use justification
- Describes the analysis used in the IEC 61508 certification process for equipment
