The latest 2020 4th Quarter release of the exida Safety Equipment Reliability Handbook (SERH) Database, which is embedded in the exida exSILentia® Integrated Safety Lifecycle tool, incorporates several equipment items typically found in the mining industry including Position Encoders and MCCs/VFDs with Safe Torque Off.
“As part of the continuous maintenance of the Safety Equipment Reliability Handbook (SERH) Database, exida is constantly reviewing data, and adding and updating equipment items in the database. A lot of the data is derived as part of FMEDA work as a result of our certification services, however we also invest in researching devices that may not directly be involved in a certification project”, says Dr. William M. Goble, exida Co-Founder. “The 4th quarter update includes new generic devices. Manufacturer specific devices are expected to follow as products move through the certification process.”
“The mining industry has increasingly adopted the IEC 61508 umbrella of functional safety standards”, says Iwan van Beurden, exida CTO and Director of Product and Service Development. “As part of that adoption, customers are using the exSILentia® software and we see an increasing request for devices that are used specifically in the mining industry ranging from Rotational Pulsers to MCCs with significantly more horsepower than used in the process industries”.
exSILentia® customers with an active maintenance plan, can download the 4th quarter update from within the exSILentia® software. exSILentia® cloud customers will see the update automatically appear when access the cloud platform. For more information visit www.exida.com/Software or contact exida.
