OEMx 2.5.1 - Next Generation Design Verification for Functional Safety

exida Innovation LLC is pleased to announce the release of our enhanced software suite, OEMx 2.5. OEMx is a set of software tools used in the development of electronic/programmable electronic and electro-mechanical products designed for optimal functional safety qualified automation systems.  This release contains a set of enhancements for essential DFMEA for functional safety, more integration between DFMEA and FMEDA, expanded Expert Knowledge guidance, simplified FMEDA component failure mapping, an FMECA export capability, and an editor to adjust reliability metrics for various stress profiles. 

The Environmental Profile Editor is a significant advancement in FMEDA prediction capability. This new tool allows design strength factors and environmental stress factors to be modeled within the FMEDA. This capability is now supported by an update of exida’s Component Reliability Database (CRD) which now has additional parameters in the reliability metric prediction formulas including failure rates, failure modes, and useful life.

A new simplified DFMEA approach optimized for functional safety design, called Design Deviation and Mitigation Analysis (DDMA), substitutes functional safety metrics for conventional design verification items such as RPN numbers. This approach when combined with the exida Unit Knowledge Base can significantly reduce engineering while providing design verification and much stronger, automatic design documentation.
