exida has announced a new one-day training titled “Safety Standards for Upstream Oil & Gas - Application of IEC 61508 and IEC 61511 in Upstream Oil & Gas” to be held Tuesday, May 21, 2013 in Houston, TX. The training will be held at Texas A&M Mays Business School at CITYCENTRE.
The seminar examines the reasons for the traditional use of prescriptive standards in O&G, and why that approach is changing as the industry is moving into new environments, new technologies, and new risks. As Operators and Regulators begin to demand a more rigorous and quantifiable approach to meeting process safety risks, the functional safety concepts embodied in IEC 61508 and IEC 61511 can be used. The seminar answers the question: “What are these standards and how do they apply in Upstream?”
