Velosi, a worldwide leader in Asset Integrity, HSE and Engineering Services has just received their API 580 and ASME 31.8s certifications through exida.
exida, the global leader in functional safety, cybersecurity, and alarm management for the process industries was eager to work alongside of Velosi’s team in the recertification of their risk-based inspection modules. These modules help implement efficient maintenance for plans as well inspects data management. VAIL-Plant modules work to quantify the risks of both onshore and offshore installations, which then allows for early prevention of potential failures.
Among the functions that VAIL-Plant offers are modules that provide detailed support of risk-based inspection, piping, and onshore/offshore pipeline assets. exida was pleased to assess each of these VAIL-Plant modules and certify them to meet API 580 and ASME B31.8S requirements. Additionally, exida requires certified software products to meet the requirements of a current software development standard. The development process used to create and maintain these VAIL-Plant modules has been assessed to relevant IEC 61508 software product development requirements to ensure the integrity of the software.
After a comprehensive assessment and certification, exida’s team is confident in that as third-party certified software functions, users can have greater assurance in these VAIL-Plant Risk-Based Inspection functions.
“We enjoyed working with the management and engineers at Velosi!” Says Dave Butler, the evaluating assessor who worked directly on this project. “The team was very capable and understood both the requirements of the standard and the details of how those requirements are met by the design/implementation of the software. Our interactions were very productive and efficient.”
