As with any engineering task, having all the information needed will save time. A complete FMEA is an important input to the FMEDA task although many practitioners do not realize the importance of the FMEA. If the FMEA is done well and updated to verify design changes as they ae made, that result benefits the FMEDA the most. As our objective is to save total engineering time, it makes sense to use FMEA methods that are easy to update during the design process.
