Flames, by their very nature, are intermittent and buoyant stimuli, making detection a uniquely challenging task. As the intention of flame detection is to detect small fires in order to take action to prevent a large uncontrollable fire, we need to ensure a robust reliability of our system. Verifying ‘system’ adequacy presents a number of challenges, including device certification, but also coverage analysis. Flame Mapping has become a critical step, particularly as these devices are so heavily reliant on a ‘field of view’ to the target fire. How would one review the flame detector coverage of a facility is adequate, and what size of fire should we be aiming to detect? This webinar will not only talk about the importance of flame detection certification, but will also investigate the typical processes of Flame Mapping and discuss the benefits of a consistent approach to Flame Detection Design throughout the lifecycle of a facility.
